Zoo Tycoon Gets An Official Board Game Adaptation

Today, Swiss board game publisher Treeceratops announced that they are developing Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game. After working with Microsoft to come up with a license agreement, they immediately began brainstorming. Over 3 years of hard work has gone into making this a game that both fans of the board games and the series will enjoy. I am very excited to see the finished product, since Zoo Tycoon was a game, I always had a lot of fun playing it. For those who wish to help with funding, a Kickstarter campaign will launch on October 25. You can find details and links specifically about the game and the Treeceratops Kickstarter below:

Gameplay: In Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game each player (2-4, 13+) manages his own zoo and has to build enclosures, food stalls, zoo shops, etc. In the game, you have to find the perfect balance between popularity (money/entertainment) and preservation. All players can choose from 34 species, the main 22 species are represented by more than 230 animal meeples. Each animal species (especially the main species) plays differently because they have different needs (space, group composition, biome, etc.). And since the demand/supply in the zoo market is different each time, each game is also played differently. The game is on the “heavy” side (euro games /120min+) and very thematic.
