BioWare has confirmed that players who play Dragon Age: Dread Wolf You will not need to have played the original trilogy.
Earlier this week (September 29), the developer shared a blog post that provided new details about the upcoming dragon age title that also included some development updates.
The post also laid out an idea of how Dreadwolf will appeal to audiences, with one developer stating that it’s designed for both longtime fans of the series and newcomers (via GamesRadar).
“Dragon Age: Dread Wolf it’s been a balance of providing answers to long-standing questions for long-time fans while creating a game for new players or someone who’s only played [Inquisition] years ago, you can get in too,” explained senior writer Sylvia Feketekuty.
Narrative editor Ryan Cormier also added that “it’s a varied audience and the development for dreadwolf has included conversations about how the team can simultaneously reward our returning fans and welcome new ones.”
The official title of Dragon Age: Dread Wolf was revealed earlier this year after previously being known as dragon age 4. The game will focus on Solas, the Dread Wolf, who has appeared in other titles in the series in the past.
Not much is known about the title or its story, which was announced in 2018, but BioWare commented on Solas’ involvement at the time.
“Whether you are new to dragon age stories or have experienced them all, using the Solas namesake certainly suggests a spectrum of endless possibilities for where things can go,” he said.
At this time, a release date has yet to be announced, but BioWare said it was “increasingly closer to the next adventure.”
